Until When?

Until when
will the struggle of hope against despair continue,
in a war that hope always loses?

Until when
will joy fight sadness,
be defeated,
and return to its shadows weeping?

Until when
will the fierce winds of fate blow
against the wishes of my dream ships?
Tearing their sails,
shattering them,
and drowning them in the dark sea of despair,
to rest on the seabed of profound sorrow.

Until when
will fortune abandon me,
and leave me alone
in endless misery?

My constant companion:
bad luck,
which has accompanied me
since the day of my birth,
and may accompany me
until my death,
and perhaps even after my death.

إلى متى؟

إلى متى
سيستمر صراعُ الأملِ مع اليأس،
في حربٍ يخسرها الأملُ دائمًا؟

إلى متى
يُقاتل الفرحُ الحزنَ،
ويُهزم،
ويعود إلى ظلاله باكيًا؟

إلى متى
تذهب رياحُ القدرِ العاتية
كما لا تشتهي سفنُ أحلامي؟
فتمزّق أشرعتها،
وتحطّمها،
وتغرقها في بحرِ اليأسِ المظلم،
لتَرسُوَ على قاعِ الحزنِ الشديد.

إلى متى
سيجافيني الحظ،
ويتركني وحيدًا
في بؤسٍ لا ينتهي؟

رفيقي الدائم:
سوءُ الحظ،
الذي يُرافقني
منذ يومِ مولدي،
وقد يُرافقني
حتى مماتي،
وربما بعد موتي أيضًا.
