O God, what is this brutality?

​Wounded Sweida,
A bereaved mother weeps
For her innocent children.

​Among the small bodies, a silent girl,
She closed her eyes that knew life
For only a brief moment.
And another child on the ground,
His cries heard by no one.

​They killed them,
Yes, they killed them without mercy,
The innocent souls
Drowned in their pure blood,
And the sky is silent,
Watching the broken hearts.

​O God, what is this brutality?
Innocence vanished
With all brutality and savagery,
Without conscience or fear of God.

​But the voice of the children,
And the cry of the innocent,
Will not be forgotten, will not be erased,
It will remain a fire that does not die,
Burning the pages of oblivion,
To stay alive in our hearts.

To God I raise my prayer:
O God, lift the affliction from them, heal their wounds, have mercy on their dead, mend their hearts, and grant them reward, patience, and steadfastness, and annihilate those who wronged them and punish them in this life and the hereafter.

يا الله، ما هذه الوحشية؟

السويداء الجريحة،
أمٌّ ثكلى تبكي
أبناءها الأبرياء.

بين الجثث الصغيرة طفلةٌ صامتة،
أغمضت عيناها التي لم تعرف الحياة
إلا لحظةً قصيرة.
وطفلٌ آخر على الأرض،
صرخاته لم يسمعها أحد.

لقد قتلوهم،
نعم قتلوهم بلا رحمة،
الأرواح البريئة
غرقت في دمائها الطاهرة،
والسماء صامتة،
تتفرج على القلوب المكسورة.

يا الله، ما هذه الوحشية؟
براءةٌ اختفت
بكلِّ وحشيةٍ وهمجية،
من دون ضميرٍ أو خوفٍ من الله.

لكن صوت الأطفال، 
و صرخة الأبرياء، 
لن تنسى، لن تمحى،
ستبقى نارًا لا تموت،
تحرق صفحات النسيان،
لتبقى حيّةً في قلوبنا.

إلى الله ارفع الدعاء:
اللهمّ ارفع عنهم البلاء، واشفِ جراحهم، وارحم موتاهم، واجبر قلوبهم، واكتب لهم الأجر والصبر والثبات، وأهلك من ظلموهم وعاقبهم دنيا وآخرة.
