Darkness and Light

​Everything in our lives
is like darkness and light.
Even darkness,
we see it under the light
as black shadows
accompanying the colors of existence.

​This also exists within us:
the darkness of the soul and the light of the mind.
The darkness of the soul is desires
that fight the light of goodness within us.

​Therefore, they say:
Getting rid of desires is salvation from pain,
which is a miserable destiny,
the torment in hell.

​Therefore, they say:
If you see the shadows, do not play with them,
turn your back on them, and look at the light.

​We are all on the path of enlightenment,
in a mortal life from which we take nothing.
And if people realized that and convinced of it, 
they would dig their graves and sit beside them,
doing nothing but praying,
in deep regret for their lost lives,
while they were trying to grasp the mirage,
which are the gains of this worldly life.

الظلام والنور 

كل شيء في حياتنا
مثل الظلام والنور.
حتى إنّ الظلام،
تحت النور نراه
ظلالًا سوداء
ترافق ألوان الوجود.

وهذا أيضًا موجود في داخلنا:
ظلام النفس ونور العقل.
ظلام النفس رغبات
تحارب نور الخير فينا.

لذلك يقولون:
التخلّص من الرغبات هو الخلاص من الألم،
الذي هو بئس المصير،
أي العذاب في الجحيم.

لذلك يقولون:
إن رأيت الظلال فلا تلعب معها،
أدر لها ظهرك، وانظر إلى النور.

نحن كلنا على درب الاستنارة،
في حياةٍ فانيةٍ نأخذ منها لا شيء.
ولو أنّ الناس أدركوا ذلك واقتنعوا به،
لحفروا قبورهم وجلسوا بجوارها،
لا يفعلون شيئًا سوى الصلاة،
في ندمٍ شديدٍ على عمرهم الذي ضاع،
وهم يحاولون أن يمسكوا السراب،
الذي هو المكاسب من الحياة الدنيا.
