We don't want revenge, but justice.

We don't want revenge,

for we are not knives wielding grudges,

nor shadows imitating hell.

We are the wounds of the honest ones, 

carrying a pain unlike hatred,

lighting from our tears lanterns of longing

for a world where innocence is not shackled,

and where murderers are not rewarded with pulpits.

We are the ones who ate dust in the refugee camps,

wept at the closed doors of hospitals,

slept on the sidewalks of exile,

and still have good faith in the sky.

We don't want a fire to swallow them,

but rather a light to reveal their true nature,

and a voice to say:

This one is unjust,

and this one is innocent.

We don't pray that they will fall into their pits,

but that people will be saved from them,

that God will extinguish strife before it is born,

that children will return to their homes,

not to their graves.

We do not seek revenge,

for revenge does not restore a mother to her son,

nor revive a dead conscience.

But we seek justice, which will raise the world on piety

and remind the tyrants that

Allah gives respite but never neglects.

لا نريدُ ثأرًا، بل عدلًا

لا نريدُ ثأرًا،

فنحن لسنا سكاكينَ بأيدي الضغينة،

ولا ظلالًا تُقلّدُ الجحيم.

نحن جراحُ الصادقين،

نحمل وجعًا لا يُشبه الكراهية،

نُشعل من دموعنا قناديل الحنين

إلى عالمٍ لا تكبل فيه البراءةُ،

ولا يُكافَأُ السفّاح بالمنابر.

نحن من أكلَ الغبارَ في مخيمات اللاجئين، 

وبكى على أبوابِ المشافي المغلقة،

ونام على أرصفةِ الغربةِ،

وما زلنا نحسن الظنّ بالسماء.

لا نريد نارًا تبتلعهم،

بل نريد ضوءًا يكشف حقيقتهم،

وصوتًا يقول:

هذا ظالم،

وهذا بريء.

لا نُصلّي أن يسقطوا في حفرهم،

بل أن ينجو الناس منها،

أن يُطفئ الله الفتنةَ قبل أن تولد،

أن يعود الأطفال إلى بيوتهم

لا إلى قبورهم.

لا نريد ثأرًا، 

فالثأر لا يُعيد أمًّا لابنها،

ولا يُحيي الضمير الميت.

لكننا نُريد عدلًا،

يُربّي الدنيا على التقوى،

ويُذكر الجبابرة أن 

الله يمهل ولا يهمل.
