Who do I spend most of my time with?

With my loneliness, which has become my shadow.

It never leaves when everyone else walks away,

and it never asks me, "Why are you crying?"

It sits silently beside me,

hearing the tired beats of my heart,

as if keeping it from going out. 

I spend my time with my words,

I write not to escape, but to remain.

I write to tell this world:

There’s still a human here who feels,

and there's still a soul here that believes

in love, peace, humanity, and g
